Virtual MSHA Part 48 (A) Annual Refresher Training Course
Description
Students must participate via a laptop/computer with a webcam and not via telephone.
Objectives
At the end of this online instructor-led health and safety training course, successful students will demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the hazards associated with working at a mine site and be able to minimize the risks.
Agenda
The virtual MSHA Part 48 Annual Refresher course will cover the following topics:
- Mandatory Health and Safety Standards
- Transportation Controls and Communication Systems
- Escape and Emergency Evacuation Procedures
- Ground Control; Working in Areas of Highwalls, Water Hazards, Pits and Spoil Banks; Illumination and Night Work
- First Aid Methods
- Electrical Risks
- Accident Prevention
- Dust and Noise Health
- Explosives
- Self-Rescue and Respiratory Devices
Assessment
Attendees will be required to attend full learning hours and achieve a passing score on all tests and assessments. On successful completion of this Miner Training, students will receive a 5000-23 MSHA certificate which is valid for 12 months.
Suggested Progression
Part 48 Refresher training will be required on an annual basis.
Who Should Attend
New Miners, maintenance personnel, independent contractors, manufacturers field representatives of anyone exposed to the hazards of mining operations who hold a current, in-date P46 certificate and require a refresher.
Prerequisites
Only those delegates who have passed the MSHA P48 New Miner training course, or a previous MSHA P48 Annual Refresher course in the last 12 months, are eligible to attend this 8-hour annual refresher training.
