Asbestos Awareness Training Course
The Asbestos Awareness training course is designed for workers who may come into contact with, but do not handle or work directly with asbestos-containing material (ACM) while performing their regular job duties.
OSHA requires workers meeting this definition to complete a minimum of 2-hours of training annually.
Following the completion of this safety course, students will gain a general knowledge of applicable standards and regulations and be able to demonstrate the steps necessary to avoid exposure to ACM in the workplace.
The asbestos awareness training course will provide information on the following topics:
- General information about asbestos
- Overall health effects
- Worker protective measures
- Avoidance and safe work practices
- Identification of ACM in the workplace
- Identification of damaged or deteriorating ACM
- Creation of workplace specific programs
Students will be required to complete a written test based on the information provided during the course. Successful students will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course. Testing formats can vary and may include multiple choice questions, true/false or fill-in-the-blank responses.
Students with potential workplace exposure may also benefit from the Lead awareness course and Silica awareness training courses.
